Ecotopia is about participation and learning. As such, the level of learning is determined by the level of participation, which simultaneously determines how the the daily programme will look like. The programme usually consists of workshops, discussions, seminars, actions, and excursions that fall under political, environmental and cultural themes. This way, you can learn from discussions on current debates, and from practical workshops where you can gain skills and get to know new techniques.
The goal is to provide as many of the workshops suggested by the participants. But, we need your help for this to happen. If you have an idea for one workshop or discussion or want to help-out with any workshop, don't keep it to yourself! Please contact us as soon as you can with your proposition. We can help giving you information on the site, and about the resources and you can or can't count with. In addition, we can put you in contact with other individuals or groups with similar ideas. However, there is no compulsory participation to prepare a workshop or discussion. Everyone is welcome to come and learn from others.

This year, the idea is to have lots of workshops and discussions about the main theme: energy issues, which includes decreasing energy consumption, improving energy efficiency, promoting low-impact energy, alternative living, and sustainable agriculture. However, every year there are workshops and discussions about topics around activism, dissent, globalization, cross-border issues, xenophobia, migration, gender issues, GMOs, role of media, etc. Skill sharing workshops are usually related to alternative technologies, permaculture, DIY [do it yourself] techniques, developing and running campaigns, ecological issues, music, etc. And evening program consists of spontaneously organized and planned parties, screenings (documentaries, movies, animations, etc.), etc.

The surroundings and the context in which Ecotopia takes place are always important to the theme, and give a special and original touch to it. This year, the camp will be in the city of Sinop, where there is a nuclear plant in construction near the camp, and the area is also a natural harbor of the Black Sea. Ongoing local activities will contribute to the programme. For example, there will be visits to the local community and participation in the local activities, which will allow us to learn about the local culture.
